I haven't posted anything this week.
Do you want to know why?
We're addicted to Lost.
Absolutely addicted.
We never got into Lost during it's premiere and even with all the buzz about it, we managed to slide by 3 seasons without getting hooked.
Then we moved to Brazil.
I spent the first few weeks really enjoying our lack of television. I was never a real TV junky, but I had my few favorite shows that I watched faithfully in the US. With the few Portuguese channels we have here, I quickly got over my shows and found myself filling my evenings with much more enriching activities. I planned a post all about how great it is to just turn off the TV.
Then one weekend, Matt and I were really feeling an entertainment drought. Kerri told me how to download Lost from iTunes and, well... you know the rest.
Lost wins again- two more poor souls lose all self control. We can't turn it off.
Last Thursday was really bad. I finished Season 2, at which point I forced myself to turn it off and give my kids a little attention:
They needed it.
Then Matt stayed up half the night to catch up to me. Seriously, is this what addiction is like? It's horrible! But dang, it's an awesome show.
We're just anxious to catch up to the rest of you in Season 4. Then we'll HAVE to wait a week for the next episode like the rest of the world and hopefully regain control of our lives.

that is pretty hilarious! We've been on and off, but have been ON again recently with LOST. It is hard to remember everything that has happened so it would probably help to watch a crash course of lost...but maybe not so good for the house huh! Too funny!
THAT IS THE FUNNIEST POST EVER! I can't believe you have been deprived of Lost for this long! Last Summer we did the catch up of the series 24! I wont go on about how incredible that series is or you'll be beside yourself...and your house! heehee
PS I'm so jealous the kids are wearing bathing suits and we are in the 40's today!

I know how it goes though, when you're just getting into a series and playing catch-up. Everybody suffers. No sleep. No cleaning. Crazy kids. Been there. Done that. BUT, there IS something extra cool about getting to watch back-to-back episodes of the story! We watched four seasons of 24 like that. Part of me wishes I had the patience to wait for the season to end and watch them back-to-back from iTunes or on DVD (that's what Tim & Jean do with 24), but I'm just not that patient! I'll take a week at a time just to keep the story coming.
Oh, can you guys get Netflix in Brazil? You should look into it. They have all the TV Series on DVD and then you wouldn't have to buy separate episodes on iTunes. Just a thought.
I watched the premier of Lost the night before we flew to Hawaii for a vacation. As I was watching it I thought, "Maybe I shouldn't watch this as I am preparing to fly across the pacific ocean." However, I continued watching and we are still hooked. Sometimes it is nice to watch something other than children's programming.
Hi, my name is Lindsay, and my husband and I are addicted to LOST too! Tyler and I watched season 1 in 3 days. I feel bad that I cannot wait for it to come on on Thursdays and also feel bad that I THINK about it so much! Do you think about it too much too?

Funny! We're totally addicted to LOST too! We don't watch television, we watch series on DVD or DVR! :-)
You're doomed, DOOMED I say! LOL. It's the only show David and I watch religiously. When Malia had really bad colic, the Andersons lent us the first 2 seasons to pass the time as we walked the floor with Malia late at night. We finished them just in time to start Season 3 with the rest of the world. Let me give you some advice. Don't give up on it! A lot of people put down Season 3, but I never did. And then, when it came back roarin', all the nay-sayers had to eat their words! But not me. I was so proud of myself.
Don't feel bad about liking it. It's nice to have something to look forward to. It's a highlight every week for us!
Mare - if you are hooked on LOST - try watchtvsitcoms.com --- you can watch a bunch of shows on there too. Also, people were saying abc or nbc lets you watch their shows online (one does and one doesn't --here in Turkey at least). We have been madly watching 24 as well as the Simpsons. Pete just watched the two latest episodes of LOST - he is a more dedicated fan than I am.

Ha! I laughed out loud when I saw your house! That is hilarious! I know exactly what you're going through. Josh and I did the same thing when we moved to California. We used to stay up til the wee hours of the morning just trying to take it all in. I wish I could have just hooked myself up to a "Lost IV". It would have been much easier. I can't believe that Matt let you watch Lost without him!That's some pretty serious love he has for you! :) Glad to see things are going well!
So Funny Mary! I love that you took a picture of it! We haven't gotten in to Lost either, but it was that way with 24 when that show used to be on. I hear ya about TV though, it takes over so much of our time! I need to retaliate.
Whew- I'm glad to know there are so many others suffering from the same addiction! It really helps in the healing process.
Lindsay- yes, we think about it way too much and even dream about it. It's terrible, I tell you.
Abby, Celine and Melanie- I've tried watching the free episodes straight from the network websites, but they're not available here in Brazil. I'll have to check out that website you suggested, Celine. Maybe that will work. In the meantime, it's totally worth paying iTunes! Did you know that you can also rent movies on iTunes? It's pretty cool.

hilarious. we are junkies as well. that is why i had to stop reading books for a few years...my house looked like that when i was reading...good luck.
Count one more on the junkie list! Steven and I just LOVE Lost. Steve has to catch up when he gets home from Iraq. Sam always says "Dad on a trip for work in the Sand." So very cute!
My livingroom looks just like that! I could clean it up then about 30 mins later there everything is again. It drives me NUTS!
OK, when I remember you were like at BYU, I remember a wonderfully talented person/mom whose house was ALWAYS meticulous. Can I just say that it makes me feel soooooooo much better to see this picture??? I look at it and it's EXACTLY like what my house looks like when I've been sucked into my addiction!!! I'm so glad to find out it's normal!
Can I say that I agree with the last comment. Funny that Lydia is on the table and in her bathing suit! LOL
I laughed when I saw your living room. My house looked about the same... popcorn, jelly beans, toys, cups, etc... all over the floor when my visitng teacher stopped by unexpectedly! oh ya, and I had just gotten out of the shower and was wearing a bathrobe. Anyway, it made me smile to know that someone else has to clean up messes like that!
P.S. we are addicted to Lost too.
This same scenario happened to us when we moved to Japan. We have Japanese cable, which came with CNNj (CNN with an Asian focus) and the Animal Planet, which sometimes has shows in English, but that's about it on the English front. We were okay for awhile, but then we borrowed the first 2 seasons of Lost from a friend and the rest is history. It's good to know we're not the only ones. :-)
