you might want to reconsider your stocking holders...

These are the new stocking holders I found. They're cute, aren't they?
.
.
.
They looked great surrounding our Nativity Scene on the mantle, for about 5 minutes before this happened:

48 hours later, it already looks so much better.

Can I just tell you how terrible I feel for not realizing what a dangerous decoration the blasted stocking holders would be?

.
They were quickly returned and replaced with the adhesive hooks we bought to hang our outdoor house lights (which went up successfully on the second attempt, by the way). The hooks work great for the stockings too.

Poor thing. I can't believe that Carter never did that last year. She is looking quite like Garrett, eh?

She is so adorable. Thankfully nothing worse happened. I was going to buy some of those holders, but even though my kids are older, I think I'll just try the hooks.

Ouch! It looks like it healed quickly, though. I wouldn't have probably thought of them as dangerous for the kids, either! I think Lydia looks a lot like her mom! She's sure cute!

Wow!! That is crazy! When I first saw them I thought, "oh so cute! I want some!" but after seeing what happened to Lydia I'll stick with my adhesive hooks that I've been using for years.

I'm glad that she's healing so quickly!

I realized this problem about 5 minutes after I put my new ones up last year - same thing, Adam headed right for them. I can't believe they don't sell these things with a warning!

Mary- I am happy to see that you are not a christmas party-pooper like you say you are at Halloween! Sorry about Lydia- she seems like such a little trooper, though! I like your stockings.

HOLY COW! I can't believe that she is smiling in those pics! Even with the bruises, she is so adorable! Thanks for the warning. We are decorating for Christmas this Sat, and I didn't even think about our (also dangerous) stocking holders. I totally can see my little guy doing the exact same thing! He injures himself every day!
