After Thanksgiving Day Drama

Today included:
.
~Black Friday shopping at Toys 'R' Us. It was so not worth it.
.
~1 missing garbage can. Either it blew away or someone stole it. I guess it's also possible the garbage man accidentally dropped it in the truck with the garbage this morning. It's nowhere to be found. I'm really not looking forward to another experience with waste management.
.
~A failed attempt at hanging Christmas lights on the house . The end of the long story is that after about 2 hours we concluded that we will not be hanging Christmas lights, at least on the second story. Matt was stuck on the roof for almost an hour. He nearly broke a few bones trying to get down.
.
~1 stocking holder pulled down from the mantle landing Lydia in the Emergency Room . The scary scene could have resulted in something terrible, but ended up up being just a couple of superficial cuts on her eyelid and 2 scratches on her eye. She's on antibiotics, and we'll follow up with the Ophthalmologist on Monday to be sure it's healing. Poor girl. (The stocking holders have been removed.)
.
What a day. At least we finished it off with some chocolate fondue!

I'm going to bed with the dishes still in the sink, and the house somewhat of a mess. It'll all still be there tomorrow.

Last night, I envisioned the stocking holders falling on someone -- anyone -- this season, and now you've convinced me to go take them down this instant. Poor Lydia. I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Mary! What a fun surprise to see your name pop up on our blog! I have just spent about 45 minutes looking at your adorable blog (even missing the BYU v. U of U game!) It sounds like you guys are doing great! I will be sure to check back often, and I can't wait to hear about your adventure in Brazil!

Don't you wish the little dish elves would come out at night and do the dishes? That would make life a LOT easier. And also a laundry elf.

Poor little Lydia! It makes me feel so bad when little kids get hurt.

Oh Mary,

The shock of your bad day is wearing off and I am starting to chuckle as I picture the chaos...Matt stranded on the roof with christmas lights hanging around his neck, Garrett and Ethan searching for the garbage can, and another ride home from the ER.

Glad you are all OK,
Dori

Nothing like a little action to spice up the holidays. Glad Lydia's ok. Hope things get a bit less dramatic. Can't wait to hear if they manage to get you a new garbage can before you move!
