a little of this, a little of that

Matt's out of town this week and I couldn't fall asleep last night. Instead, I stayed up way too late browsing blogs, jumping from one to another.

.
I wish I was the guy who invented blogger.
.
It's huge. Sometimes I feel closer to my blogging friends that I do my real life friends. It's a crazy, intriguing web of interpersonal relations and connections.
.
Blog surfing was a nice sort of detox after watching the Heroes season premiere. That is a dark but terribly addicting, well written show. Premiere week continues tonight with night two of Dancing with the Stars.
.
I'm all geared up to do pilates while I watch my shows each night. I've taken a little vacation from my usual exercise routine since school started up. I decided I was getting enough exercise taking kids to and from school. We live so close to both Garrett and Ethan's schools that I can't justify driving. I speed walk with the stroller while Garrett rides his bike or we all bike with the bike trailer.
.
Despite the cardio activity, my lingering gut still looks like I could be sporting a start of another pregnancy. Since Lydia's now over 18 months and given my track record, I'd like to avoid those sideways glances of suspicion if I can. It's time to get back into my pilates routine.
.
This week seemed like a good time to start. TV is usually a good motivator for me (since I convinced myself that TV is a waste of time if I'm not multitasking), and I always look forward to premiere week. Yesterday was the first official day of fall, and premiere week is really the only thing around here that feels like fall.
.
I miss New Jersey in the fall. Are you wearing sweaters there yet? Have you been apple picking? I tried making apple crisp the other day, but it just isn't the same if it's hot and sunny outside. I love California. I grew up in California and the sunshine is fabulous. But now that I've actually experienced seasons, I kind of like them.
.
I miss Matt too. I keep thinking about something ~j. once said. She said that when her husband is gone, she misses him. Not his help, but him. I've tried to keep that in mind. It's easy to get wrapped up in the demands of being a mom and it sometimes feels like that role comes first. It shouldn't. I really do miss him. I miss his help too, but I miss him more.

Apple picking has been going on at the Giamarese Farm for about three weeks. Yummy for snacking (and breakfast, and apple crisp). Sweaters have been a definite advantage in the mornings (and a couple times during the day), but yesterday it was 84. Jersey continues to be schizophrenic.

I hear ya' on the blogging world ... it's crazy! I'm glad someone else I know watches "HEroes" ... I love it! The guy who plays Peter Petrelli (Milo) went to my high school and is friends with my older sister ... that's why I started watching it, but now I'm hooked! Hope the time goes by fast with Matt gone!

I second the blogging thing, I'm even closer to my good friend through it also. You get to know things and see things you normally wouldn't - so fun. We love to watch Dancing with the Stars too, do you think Mark will be voting for Marie Osmond?!

I loved the premiere of Heroes. I with you that it's addicting and dark, but I love it.
Back in the day before I got preggo with Carson (well, make that Brooklyn too, lol), I liked doing pilates too. My abs are pitifully weak. You know the one excercise where you lay flat on your back, bring your arms over your head and then sit up? well, i can't do it. nope. the hilariously funny part is one time I was telling Burke how hard they were, and he said, what this? and layed on the floor and did ten without breaking a sweat. What?! Not fair. I need to get back to excercising. Too much vegging on the couch and too much chocolate consumption I think.
Oh ya, I made apple crisp last night. I feel like it was fall this week in Arizona--meaning it was in the high 80's, so I had to make some. But, it's back in the high 90's today and the rest of this week.
Good luck this week by yourself! I'm so overwhelmed just with Burke not getting home until 8:00pm.
Have fun with the rest of the premiere week!

A friend here in Istanbul has said...once you start moving around it is hard to stop because you always miss something about the place you left (or places). You can never find everything you love everywhere :), but I guess we try. I think it is sort of true. I am not sure I will ever be blissfully happy in one place anymore. This does not mean I wil;l not stay in one place...it just means I will always pine after the things I miss from the other places :) Enjoy pining...

Matt misses you, too. So does New Jersey.

I remember the first time Garrett was gone for a few days, I found myself smelling his clothes just to catch a glimpse of him. I know, it sounds crazy, but I missed him!

What a beautiful sentiment. What an important difference.
