This post is dedicated to my mother-in-law, Kathleen, who, on the occasion of my marriage to the oldest of her six sons, gave me the charge to have the baby girls in the family since she never could.
.
Honestly, I can't imagine what life would be like having 6 sons. Kathleen was heavily outnumbered but held her own gracefully. In my mind, she was near sainthood. She had those boys well-trained to be sensitive, caring young men who know how to babysit, change diapers, wash and fold laundry, vacuum, cook, and a slew of other household tasks.
.
Of course there are a few things they missed out on not growing up with any sisters. I still laugh at the faces on the roomful of Glauser boys when I walked in one morning with a towel wrapped around my wet hair. They looked at me like I was crazy. (I guess Kathleen never did that.)
.
Kathleen really wanted a girl. Don't misunderstand, she adored her boys and mine and spoiled them like crazy, but she would have just
.
eaten this girl up.
This girlie girl definitely helps balance out all the testosterone at Glauser family gatherings. She carries her toy cell phone around in her purse and gets ridiculously angry if Garrett or Ethan go near her stroller. She's also the first almost-1 1/2-year-old that I know who has a passion for shoes, sunglasses and hats and gets really feisty if you take them off.
.
I like to think that she and Kathleen had plenty of tea parties while she was waiting to be born. (Well, I suppose not
tea parties. Rather, whatever the beverage of choice is in heaven).

Such a cutie! It's so much fun to have a girl who loves the GIRLY-girl stuff -- Autumn loves pink and all things girl. Heidi's a close second but a little more tomboy. We have to see what Esther thinks of all the girly stuff.
Oh my gosh! Too cute!! My niece started out young too. She has this complete girly side where we don't know where it came from, cause we weren't girly at her age. LOL. I'm just barely getting into the "girly" stuff. LOL.
So cute! I think it's so funny that she loves wearing all of those things. I wish Brooklyn would love wearing hair bows. I have so many beautiful hair bows for her to wear, and she just rips them out of her hair! So, she looks like an orphan child most of the time, lol!
Mary, it is all too familiar! Don't you love it! I am sure that you wouldn't have it any other way. She is so darling!
Wow! Kathleen would have loved that! It's great that Lydia is so "girly" being surrounded by boys! My little Abby was born "girly" too. She matches great, loves sunglasses, shoes, purses, style, dolls, etc... I wondered if we influence them in raising them that way - but then I had my son! He was born hitting things, playing rough, spitting, wrestling, etc. It's so funny how different they are!
Too precious! Almost makes me wish I had a girl... :)
Lydia looks so adorable! I thought Kenna was girly, but Lydia tops her! I also like to think that Brennan and Asher spent time with my mom before they were born.
