oh, the places you'll go

I'm just going to pretend that I don't have a lot of catching up to do. I'm going to overlook the things I've neglected to blog about- New Years, Matt's birthday, trip to Austin, trip to San Antonio, various new projects, this crazy Houston weather, not to mention what we have coming up with Matt and Garrett's trip to Salt Lake this weekend and Ethan's birthday on Monday.

Instead I'm going to blog about TODAY.

I'm putting the last of my pictures up and it has thrown me into a world of nostalgia. I'm decorating our office/project room with photographs we've taken at some of the places we've lived and loved. I have such fond memories attached to each one, and I'm homesick.

I'm homesick for all of them.

Paris

Though I've never lived there, I visited the summer before Matt and I were married. It sort of marked the beginning of this phase of my life. Plus, I took this awesome picture of the Eiffel Tower, so Paris makes the cut into my photo collection. Prior to France, the furthest I'd ever travelled away from California was to Colorado. I fell in love with France, the history, the charm, and this whole idea of exploring new places and new people.

New York
(Really we lived in Jersey, but were total New York wannabees)
The Bay Area
Brasil
I am so grateful for all the experiences we've had, the things we've been able to see and do, and the ways I've been forced to grow, learn, and open my mind. We have no doubt that the Lord has had His hand in our lives every step of the way.

Now we've been here in Texas for about 6 months and we're starting to get a little bored.

Just kidding.

It is absolutely wonderful and absolutely the right thing for our family to now be settled and semi-permanent. But I have a feeling we're not done. It may be years away, but if and when it's time to go again, we'll know...

and we'll embrace it.

You were in Austin and didn't see us? Sniff, sniff...

Just kidding. Hope you have been having and keep having lots of fun.

I must say I'm jealous of your adventures. Up until a couple years after we were married, the furthest I'd been from CA was Utah. See, I'm worse than you!!! I still haven't been out of the country. Maybe one day...

Awesome shot of the Eiffel Tower. I need to hop a flight & see it myself. Come see us in England & get some cool shots of our stuff!

You've been some great places. Who in Jersey doesn't want to be a New Yorker? Oh, wait, I know that: all the natives.

Mary, I loved this post. I cannot believe you have been in Texas for 6 months. You'll have to post pics of your office when you finish decorating.

You guys are so lucky to have had so many fun experiences and gone so many places. I'm sure it really makes your family feel like a team to go through so many things together. Oh, and thanks for introducing me to nie. I couldn't help it, I fell in love with her too. It's so nice to see her back on her blog.

What's the matter with New Jersey? It's beautiful during the spring with all the flowering trees, and during the summer with all the green trees and during the fall when all the leaves turn colors and even beautiful in the winter when it snows (like today). Can you tell I grew up in Arizona? We didn't have all these wonderful deciduous trees!

You know that the Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey, right? So, you did put a picture of New Jersey in your blog! It is nice to be able to have New York City so near that we do kind of feel like it's our city, too. Especially since the famous New York skyline is visible from New Jersey!

Even if you did want to be a New Yorker, we couldn't tell and we loved having you here!

Oh Mandy, you know I love New Jersey! And you're right- east coast seasons are WONDERFUL, especially for those of us who grew up without them. If given the chance, we'd move back in a heartbeat-- and not to New York, but right back to East Brunswick. (But we'd still go to New York every other week!)

You know I couldn't help teasing you! I think everyone in central Jersey feels like New York City is their city, too (why else would we all call it "The City"?)

I love NYC, but wouldn't want to live there. Maybe for a year just to experience it!

And we would LOVE to have you and your family back!
