Today is World Autism Awareness Day

Did you know that?

Did you know...
  • Autism affects as many as 1 in 150 children and 1 in 94 boys
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the world
  • More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with diabetes, cancer, & AIDS combined
  • Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism, but early diagnosis and intervention improve outcomes

Today is World Autism Awareness Day.

If the world is giving us a day to learn about Autism, maybe we ought to take the opportunity to do it:

My sister-in-law's sister has been doing her student teaching this year in a classroom of autistic students; 12 of the 13 kids in the classroom are boys. I'm glad that there are so many resources about this out there, and I think the awareness is increasing all the time, which can only be a great thing.
