So, we're earthquake folks. I've got those drills and procedures down but we're entirely new to this hurricane thing.
We're taking the crash course from the news media and preparing for this
major storm headed right at us.
Although parts of Houston are being evacuated, we're being told to stay put and prepare for power outages and possible damage from winds and storm surge.
I'm sure we'll be fine. We're prepared. Maybe just pray for my kids who tend to flip out over mild thunderstorms.
So far we've convinced them that it's going fun spending Saturday
(riding out the storm) camped out in Mom and Dad's walk-in closet
(because aside from the bathroom, it's the only place in the house with no direct exposure to windows) all snuggled together with games, snacks, the DVD player, and maybe even
FLASHLIGHTS!

I hope Ike doesn't hit Houston. But, you never can tell. Get ready for flooding. It's crazy how creeks can become rivers in minutes. Your poor kids with not liking thunderstorms, b/c it rains ALOT in Houston. I actually like it. :)
I hope you guys don't get hit and you make it through okay.
When you put it like that, it actually sounds kind of fun! :) Best of luck!
Eek! Good luck!
Having just experienced my first Hurricane, let me tell you a few things that suprised me :
stock up your fridge with perishables, because even though you may loose them all, you won't be able to replace them for a while because all the stores will be out too.
get sandbags, even if you think you're on high ground - I can't tell you how many times in three days we said "Man I wish we would have gotten sandbags!"
Fill your bathtub with water in case after the storm you're on a boil alert.
Watch out for flooding one to two days after the storm passes.
Good luck!
Good luck, we'll be thinking of you. Our other friends got evacuated yesterday! You are all in our prayers!
Good luck! We're praying for you!
I lived in Florida during some of my teen years and some of my best memories are camping out, huddled together in sleeping bags, awaiting hurricanes with boarded up windows and baited breath with my family. The sound when it hits is unbelievable and the exploring of the wreckage the next day is something I'll never forget. We were never in the eye so it wasn't too scary. We'll be thinking of you!
Sure hope you guys are okay! I'm going to keep checkin for a new post that says you are all okay.
By the way, I went private on my blog. Send me your email to sunshine1053@juno.com & I will add you to my reader list.
