my new read

I'm only 50 pages into it, but I've already drawn some conclusions:
.
.
1) the man is brilliant
.
.
2) I have totally ruined my childrens' lives and robbed them of additional happiness by unintentionally disrupting their healthy sleep habits.
(Luckily, it appears this is all reversible)
.
.
.
So, 4 1/2 years and 3 kids later, I'm finally figuring out what the rest of you wise, well rested mothers already knew.
.
Our entire sleep deprived family is undergoing a complete sleep renovation (as soon as Matt and I both finish the book, that is).

Mary, I have been living by this book since Kenna was about 8 months old. I really believe everything works if you go by his theory, but sometimes I don't have the nerve to let my baby cry for an hour or whatever if I think they're stuck in the crib rails or if they're going to wake up the other kids. Other than that...I love this book and hope it will work for you. Sleep really is important and when my kids go without it Mike and I can tell a big difference!

I'm actually to a point where I'm okay with letting them cry for an hour in the middle of the night, and since Liddy's just in a port a crib, I don't worry about a leg in the rail- it's the nap issue that I think I've totally messed up.

The boys both seemed to need to drop their naps really early on. If they slept too late in the afternoon, they were up until 10 each night. So we resorted to skipping naps, and then fighting to keep them up all evening until they were exhausted and crashed at 6:30 each night.

Evidently that's not the right way to go, and seems to explain why they're both so moody, irritable, and emotional all the time! I just thought they were showing some genetics they inherited from me, but turns out it just may be that they're freakin' exhausted!

Mary,
You need to post some tips or e-mail them to me. I might get the book since you say is good so far. But for now.... what's the deal with naps!!??
