how does this red plate thing work?
Great idea, Mary. You just reminded me that I have a plate somewhere in the back of my cabinet for the same reason. I really like that red!

Our set or red dishes are the "special dishes" and if anyone has a special day (ie. birthday, gives a talk, gets a new job, etc.) they get the special dishes for dinner. My parents did it with us when we were kids...we're continuing it with our family.
That's cool. Maybe i'll have to do something like that too. What a great tradition.
